Kishan Reddy’s Fiery Challenge
metro india news I hyderabad
In a scathing attack on the Congress-led Telangana government, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy addressed a massive BJP dharna at Indira Park on Sunday, terming it "People's Deception Day" to highlight the ruling party's failure to deliver on electoral promises. The event, organized by the BJP to protest against what it called systemic betrayal of public trust, drew thousands of party workers and drew sharp criticism against both Congress and the previous BRS regime.
The Union Minister accused the BRS of transforming Telangana—a state born from public struggles—into a "debtor state" through 10 years of family-centric rule marred by corruption and autocracy from 2014-23. "The KCR family held Telangana captive, leaving it burdened with debt and unfulfilled aspirations," Kishan said, adding that public disillusionment with BRS paved the way for Congress's 2023 victory.
However, Kishan lambasted Congress for mirroring BRS's failures despite grand pre-poll guarantees. "Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and Revanth Reddy promised a wave of change with abhayahastas (assurances) and schemes. Yet, after two years, CM Revanth Reddy tours the state under the guise of 'two-year governance victory celebrations.' What face does he wear while holding celebrations, when promises lie broken?" the Union Minister questioned.
He issued a direct challenge to Revanth: "If you have the courage, come debate on promises implementation—at Indira Park, Praja Bhavan, or the Press Club. BJP is ready with any worker." Kishan demanded accountability on key pledges: 2 lakh jobs in the first year (unfilled), unemployment allowance for youth (undelivered), Rs. 2,500 monthly aid for women (stalled), enhanced pensions (ignored), and Rs. 12 lakh support for SC/ST families (not a single beneficiary).
Highlighting fiscal woes, the Union Minister noted the state's reliance on land sales and liquor revenue—contradicting Congress's manifesto vow to eliminate belt shops. "Without selling liquor for over Rs. 1 lakh crore or auctioning government lands, how will you pay salaries, pensions, or contractors? He exposed ongoing party defections, from TRS MLAs to Congress during YSR's time, Congress to BRS under KCR, and now BRS to Congress, questioning Rahul Gandhi on the "real change."
Kishan clarified Central contributions, like Rs. 43 per kg under BJP's food scheme versus the state's meager Rs. 13 for Sanna Biyyam (Fine Rice). "Congress and BRS are both family parties—corrupt, promise-breakers, and enablers of irregularities. No justice for farmers, unemployed youth, BCs, SC/STs, employees, or Telangana martyrs' families," he charged.
Urging vigilance, the Union Minister appealed: "Telangana people, question Congress everywhere. Demand implementation of guarantees; reject these deceptive regimes." The dharna underscored BJP's commitment to transparent governance, positioning it as the true alternative for the state's progress.
