Dasu Krishnamoorty, a veteran in journalism, a die-hard lover of Telugu literature and deskman extraordinaire turns a grand 100 years today. Born in Vijayawada (then Bezawada) on July 1, 1926. A topper from the first batch of Journalism of Osmania University (1954-55). He was destined to be associated with the written word and received appreciation from no less than Frank Moraes during his internship at the Times of India. Frank Moraes used to advise his deskmen to emulate page layout techniques of Dasu Krishnamoorty.

He after his initial education in the town, completed his LL.B from University of Bombay in 1947. He started his career in Hyderabad dailies as a sub-editor and in 1959 joined The Indian Express as a chief sub editor in 1959 and continued till 1968. He also worked in The Times of India, Ahmedabad during August 1968-May 69. He retired as an Assistant Editor with Patriot in 1969. He also worked at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi, as Associate Professor, and worked also for All India Radio for ten years.

Left Delhi for Hyderabad in 1989 to teach at the University of Hyderabad as a provisional professor. He also taught journalism at OU, Open University and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s College of Journalism. He moved to New Jersey in 2001 and has devoted much of his time and energies to promote Telugu short stories and writers at the global level by translating them in English and publishing.
