Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav marked National Doctors’ Day with a strong message underlining the indispensable role of doctors in building a healthy society and vowed to uphold transparency, discipline, and accountability in the state’s healthcare system.

Speaking at a commemorative event at Dr. N.T.R. University of Health Sciences, the minister emphasized that doctors who serve with sincerity and compassion deserve the utmost respect from society. “Doctors who dedicate themselves selflessly to protecting public health earn lasting appreciation. But those who act irresponsibly will not be tolerated,” he warned, stressing the government’s zero-tolerance policy on negligence and misconduct.

He condemned violence against doctors, calling it "unacceptable in a democratic society," and urged the public to channel grievances through legal and administrative forums rather than resorting to abuse or assault.

Minister Yadav took sharp aim at the previous administration, stating that public health infrastructure had suffered from mismanagement, corruption, and political interference over the last five years. “In just one year, the coalition government has brought order to a disoriented healthcare system,” he said, citing improvements in outpatient services and renewed focus on infrastructure and governance.

He revealed plans to raise the state’s average life expectancy from 71 to 85 years by 2047, while reducing maternal mortality from 45% to 5%, infant mortality from 24% to 2%, and malnutrition among pregnant women from 34% to 4%. The minister also highlighted the recent transparent and dispute-free transfers of medical staff, contrasting them with the corruption-tainted postings under the previous regime.
