Former Telangana Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy alleged that the drought-like conditions in Telangana were not caused by the El Niño effect but by the failures of the Congress government. He demanded that the government immediately release floodwaters from the Jurala Project to protect farmers. Speaking at a press conference held at the residence of former Municipal Chairperson Gayathri Ravikumar, Niranjan Reddy criticized the state government's approach.
Niranjan Reddy accused the Congress government of deliberately avoiding the supply of water through the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project because it did not want former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to receive credit.
Former MLA Aal Venkateshwar Reddy alleged that delays in operating lift irrigation pumps during floods were causing losses to farmers and urged the government to operate all lift irrigation schemes continuously and fill the reservoirs. Former MLA Chittem Ram Mohan Reddy alleged that the lack of clarity on water releases had created anxiety among farmers and urged the government to act immediately, keeping farmers' welfare above political considerations.
