In a strong and clear message to the Telugu film industry, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan criticized their silence. He questioned why major film associations have not made courtesy visits since the government took power nearly a year ago.

He said the era of individual producers lobbying for ticket hikes or permissions through personal channels is over. “Only official representatives of film associations will be heard. We serve the industry, not individual interests,” he emphasized.

Highlighting how producers like Dil Raju, Allu Aravind, and others approach the government with personal petitions, Kalyan warned that such fragmented efforts harm long-term growth. “This approach ends now, and we’ll focus on building institutions,” he added. The current coalition government remains impartial, supporting even films produced by actor families like Nagarjuna’s, and prioritizes institutional growth over favoritism.

Kalyan outlined future plans: launching a Comprehensive Film Development Policy, supporting production, exhibition, skill development, and international competitiveness. The policy will officially grant industry status, unlocking investment and infrastructure opportunities.

He ordered an investigation into theatre operations, especially focusing on leased halls and tax compliance amid rising ticket prices. Cities like Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam are under scrutiny. Kalyan stressed that without skill-building and opportunities across sectors, the industry cannot sustainably grow. “It’s built on unity, fairness, and vision. The government will support, but the industry must rise collectively,” he concluded.
