Economically Backward Classes (EBC) Welfare Association National President and EBC Joint Action Committee Chairman Vallapureddy Ravinder Reddy met Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at the CM’s residence in Jubilee Hills on Saturday.
During the meeting, Ravinder Reddy submitted a memorandum urging the state government to establish a dedicated EBC Commission, an EBC Finance Corporation, and a separate Welfare Ministry to address the needs of economically weaker sections among forward castes. He also demanded allocation of Rs 10,000 crore in the state budget for EBC welfare.
Ravinder Reddy pointed out that forward caste communities such as Reddy, Kamma, Kapu, Velama, Brahmin, Vysya, Balija, Ontari, and others are often excluded from welfare benefits despite over 90% of them living in economically distressed conditions. Many EBC students are unable to pursue higher education due to financial barriers and lack of access to existing welfare schemes.
The representation also included demands for fee reimbursement, hostel facilities, scholarships, low-interest loans, and a separate sub-plan for EBC development. It emphasized extending all welfare benefits given to SC, ST, OBC, and Minority students to EBCs as well.
Responding positively, CM Revanth Reddy assured Ravinder Reddy that appropriate steps will be initiated soon for the formation of the EBC Corporation and other support measures.
