The Telangana Forest Development Corporation (TFDC) has expanded its eco-tourism footprint with the launch of “The Breeze” eco-tourism cottages at Ananthagiri Hills in Vikarabad district. The facility was inaugurated by Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, marking a step toward promoting sustainable tourism in forest areas.

The initiative is part of TFDC’s eco-tourism brand “Deccan Woods and Trails,” inspired by Karnataka’s Jungle Lodges model. The programme aims to offer visitors an immersive nature experience through activities such as trekking, bird watching, guided forest walks, night camps, jungle cottage stays, safaris, and bush breakfasts in natural surroundings.

As part of the project, TFDC has constructed jungle cottages at the site and trained youth with backgrounds in forestry and hotel management to serve as “naturalists.” These trained guides provide insights into forest ecology, biodiversity, wildlife conservation, and hospitality, enhancing the educational aspect of the experience.

Visitors can book packages through the official website, with options designed for individuals, couples, and families. The experience begins with a welcome reception and lunch, followed by guided trekking and bird walks to scenic viewpoints. Evenings feature campfires and interactive sessions on wildlife. Guests stay overnight in tents and begin the next day with an early morning safari covering forest and grassland terrain, along with trekking to waterfalls. A bush breakfast served in the forest adds to the unique appeal. The programme concludes with a return to the resort and check-out by late morning.

Officials said the initiative is designed to promote eco-friendly tourism while creating employment opportunities and raising awareness about forest conservation. Senior forest officials, including Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Dr. C. Suvarna and TFDC Vice-Chairperson and Managing Director Sunita M. Bhagwat, along with other department personnel, attended the inaugural event.

The project is expected to attract nature enthusiasts and boost tourism in the Ananthagiri region while maintaining ecological balance.
