‘Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb’ of Telangana needs to be preserved: Azharuddin

Azharuddin urged the people to rise above religious and social differences to strengthen communal bonds and work collectively toward the state's collective progress

Minister for Minorities Welfare and Public Enterprises Mohammad Azharuddin has called for preserving the state’s long-standing tradition of Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb, emphasizing that peace, brotherhood, and harmony remain vital to social unity. Highlighting the universal teachings of spiritual leaders and saints, Azharuddin urged the people to rise above religious and social differences to strengthen communal bonds and work collectively toward the state's collective progress.

Azharuddin was the Chief Guest at the Urs-e-Mubarak of Hazrat Syed Shah Afzal Biabani (R.A.) held at Dargah Shareef, Kazipet, Hanamkonda district. The program was attended by Minister for Revenue Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Minister for Endowments Konda Surekha, the local MLA, various chairpersons, elected representatives, senior officials, religious scholars, devotees and members of the public.

Minister Mohammad Azharuddin extended his heartfelt greetings to all devotees on the occasion of the Urs-e-Mubarak. Azharuddin emphasized that when people work together with unity and mutual understanding, their efforts become easier and receive greater blessings. He appealed to the community and organizers to remain united, consult one another and work collectively for the development of the Dargah and the welfare of devotees.

Recalling the traditions associated with the Urs, the Minister said that the teachings and practices followed by the elders should be preserved and passed on to future generations. Hazrat Syed Shah Afzal Biabani (R.A.) (1795–1856 A.D.) was a revered Sufi saint associated with Warangal in the erstwhile Hyderabad State. He was appointed as the Qazi of Warangal during the reign of Nizam Ali Khan (Asaf Jah II). His Dargah at Kazipet continues to be an important spiritual and pilgrimage centre in Telangana.
