The Electric Mobility Financiers Association of India (EMFAI) hosted the second edition of the EMFAI Sustainable Mobility Summit 2025 at Pragati Maidan, alongside the 23rd EV Expo, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, financiers and ecosystem players to accelerate India’s shift to electric mobility in the commercial segment.

Held under the theme “Driving Towards 100% Electrification of Mid & Last-Mile Mobility for Viksit Bharat,” the summit focused on scaling electric vehicle (EV) adoption through innovative financing, policy alignment and stronger collaboration between original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), fleet operators and financial institutions.

The event was attended by EMFAI President Sameer Agarwal, Maharashtra Protocol Minister Jaykumar Rawal, former Union Minister of State Meenakshi Lekhi, Member of Parliament and CAIT General Secretary Praveen Khandelwal, and EV Expo founder Anuj Sharma. The awards and closing ceremony was graced by Ajay Tamta, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways. Agarwal said EMFAI was formed with the goal of achieving complete electrification of commercial vehicles. He noted that over 30 financiers, collectively financing more than 5 lakh vehicles, are collaborating to strengthen the EV financing ecosystem by working closely with OEMs, fleet operators and policymakers.

Speakers highlighted challenges such as high upfront costs, residual value risks, limited access to affordable credit and the need for rapid expansion of charging and battery infrastructure. The importance of policy certainty and coordinated implementation across states was also emphasised.

Khandelwal said rapid electrification of last-mile logistics could significantly benefit traders and small businesses through lower operating costs and predictable financing. Lekhi stressed the need for sustained public-private collaboration to align clean mobility goals with economic growth and job creation.

The summit featured panel discussions on commercial EV adoption, financing innovations and global best practices, concluding with awards recognising contributions to India’s electric mobility ecosystem.
