Hyderabad Police Commissioner and Director General, C. V. Anand, IPS, who also serves as Additional District Magistrate, conducted an Executive Court at the Police Commissionerate, TGICCC, Banjara Hills, on Wednesday. The session was convened to review disputes involving rowdy sheeters and criminal gangs operating in the South, South East, and South West zones of the city.
According to reports presented by local police stations, several gangs in these areas had been involved in violent crimes, including mutual clashes, murders, and attempted murders.
During the proceedings, 101 individuals from 11 gangs across 10 police stations were brought before the court and questioned separately.
Notably, six gangs stated that they had resolved their differences amicably in the presence of elders and family members. The remaining groups, after interrogation, assured the court that they had not engaged in any fresh criminal activities and promised to maintain peace going forward. Issuing a stern warning, Commissioner Anand declared that strict legal action would be taken against anyone disturbing public peace and order in Hyderabad. He emphasized that, under Section 126 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023, bonds could be secured from individuals considered likely to breach peace, compelling them to maintain order for a specified period. The court proceedings were adjourned for further hearings.
K. Apoorva Rao, IPS, DCP, Special Branch, Hyderabad, along with officers from the 10 concerned police stations, were present during the session.
