Hyderabad City Police, acting on credible information, arrested two drug offenders in a joint operation conducted by the Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) and Domalguda Police.

The operation led to the arrest of Nikhil (19), a student from Bangalore, and Raghavendra Rao (27), a private employee from Vijayawada. Police seized 12.57 grams of MDMA, 305 grams of ganja, a Nissan Magnite car, three mobile phones, cash of Rs.1,080, and empty packing sachets—all valued at around Rs.7.3 lakh.

Investigations revealed that Raghavendra Rao, previously involved in multiple NDPS cases in Andhra Pradesh, turned to drug peddling after incurring business losses. He procured ganja from the Andhra–Odisha border and MDMA from Nikhil, who sourced it through Nigerian suppliers using the “dead drop” method. Payments were made via online transfers.

Nikhil, pursuing BCA in Bangalore, reportedly became addicted to MDMA during his school days. He later began supplying the drug to local peddlers, including Rao, to earn easy money and maintain a lavish lifestyle.

Police said students and youngsters addicted to drugs are increasingly turning into peddlers to sustain their consumption habits, creating a serious social threat. Authorities urged parents to monitor children closely and appealed to the public to share information related to drug abuse with H-NEW at 8712661601.

The case has been registered at Domalguda Police Station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
