A team of distinguished experts from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), IIT, Agama Sastra, and Pune-based engineers specializing in temple conservation assembled at Srisailam on Sunday to deliberate on preservation strategies for the revered temple.

The expert committee, constituted under the Andhra Pradesh Endowment Department, meticulously assessed the temple’s structural integrity, focusing on critical load-bearing components such as pillars, beams, and the roof. Their primary objective was to implement reinforcement measures that uphold the authenticity of the temple while ensuring its longevity.

Incorporating traditional conservation methods, the experts examined the use of indigenous materials like lime, jaggery, natural Arabic tree gum, ladyfinger extract, jute, and Kadakia. These eco-friendly elements, deeply embedded in ancient construction techniques, provide sustainable solutions that preserve the temple’s original aesthetics.

Additionally, the committee explored modern scientific methods such as structural analysis, non-invasive testing, and climate impact assessments to strike a balance between heritage conservation and durability. Guidelines for periodic maintenance were also formulated to ensure the temple remains in optimal condition for centuries to come.

This initiative, backed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Honorable Endowment Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, aims to safeguard the temple for the next 200-300 years without necessitating further intervention. Experts remain optimistic that these measures will protect the temple’s historical, cultural, and spiritual significance for future generations.
