Faculty members of Woxsen University have received prestigious government grants from ICSSR and TIH IIT Mandi

Woxsen University Faculties Receive Prestigious Government Grants from ICSSR and TIH IIT Mandi for Pioneering Research in Technology, Culture, and Humanities 

* ICSSR Grant of ₹19 Lakh: Awarded to Dr. Brundaban Mishra for preserving and revitalizing tribal music and dance traditions of Western Odisha.

* ICSSR Grant of ₹18 Lakh: Awarded to Dr. Rajdeep Routh for developing participatory frameworks for urban cultural heritage governance.

* TIH IIT Mandi Grant of ₹7.7 Lakh: Awarded to Dr. Shyam Krishan Joshi for developing a supercapacitor-based hybrid bicycle for sustainable and efficient mobility.

* ICSSR Seminar Grant of ₹3 Lakh: Awarded to Dr. Satyanarayana Turangi to organize a national seminar on tribal rights, policies, and cultural preservation.

Hyderabad, 22 October 2025: Reflecting its growing reputation as a hub for transformative research and innovation, Woxsen University faculties received prestigious government grants in 2025 from the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) and the Technology Innovation Hub at IIT Mandi (TIH IIT Mandi). The grants, spanning social sciences, humanities, and advanced engineering, underscore the University’s interdisciplinary research approach, integrating cultural preservation, social inclusion, and technological innovation.

Dr. Brundaban Mishra, Professor, School of Technology, receives an ICSSR Major Research Grant of ₹19 lakh for his project “Embody, Emotion, Endangered Music and Dance Tradition of Western Odisha: A Revitalization in the Globalized World.” The project focuses on preserving and revitalizing endangered tribal music and dance traditions of western Odisha through rigorous cultural analysis and documentation, ensuring the sustainability of indigenous knowledge systems.

Dr. Rajdeep Routh, Assistant Professor at the School of Architecture and Planning, receives an ICSSR Major Research Grant of ₹18 lakh for his project “Participation in Cultural Governance: Models, Challenges, and Opportunities in Indian Cities.” The research develops participatory governance frameworks for cultural heritage management across Indian cities, enhancing community engagement and providing actionable policy recommendations for inclusive and sustainable urban heritage governance.

Dr. Shyam Krishan Joshi, Assistant Professor at the School of Business , receives a sanctioned grant of ₹7.7 lakh from TIH IIT Mandi for his project developing a supercapacitor-based hybrid bicycle, designed to enhance riding comfort, efficiency, and sustainability through motor-assisted supercapacitor technology, intelligent torque control, and self-regenerating energy systems.

Dr. Satyanarayana Turangi, Assistant Professor at the School of Liberal Arts and Humanities, receives a seminar grant of ₹3 lakh from ICSSR to organize a two-day national seminar on “Remembering Birsa Munda: Janjatiya Rights and Policies.” The seminar focuses on tribal rights, policy frameworks, and cultural preservation, reinforcing the University’s commitment to social responsibility and ethical scholarship.
