Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has earnestly appealed to Maoists to surrender before Telangana police and join the mainstream life.  "Telangana suffered from Maoists and terrorists activities in the past. The indomitable spirit displayed by the state police is the result of fast declining terror and naxal activities in the state in recent times", the Chief Minister said that many key Maoists have already surrendered.

"I am appealing to all Maoists leaders and activists who are active to surrender before the police and join mainstream life," he said. The Chief Minister asserted that Maoists should  join as partners in the nation building and the country's development by shedding the naxal ideology. He commended the Telangana police for their exemplary service in rooting out naxal menace in the state.

Paying glorious tributes to the police martyrs on the Police Commemoration Day at the police martyrs memorial in the city on Tuesday, Revanth Reddy said that  191 police personnel, including 6 from Telangana laid down their lives while discharging their duties in the country.

The Chief Minister extolled the Telangana police for being number one in the country in adapting new technology and unique policies to strengthen the policing. According to the India Justice Report 2025, the Telangana police department has been ranked first in the country. Similarly, the Ministry of External Affairs gave  special compliments  to Telangana police for a transparent passport verification system. These achievements are a testament to the continuous efforts and dedication of the Telangana police, he said.

Revanth Reddy highlighted the new crimes such as cyber crime, digital fraud, morphing content, drugs, and human trafficking which posed a  big challenge for the police. Cybercrime news is appearing more in the newspapers than human crimes. It was a matter of pride that the Telangana police are ahead of other states in tackling the cyber crimes by adapting advanced technology. A 'Cyber   Security Bureau' under the leadership of a DGP-level officer has already been established to combat cyber crimes.

This department is performing its duties efficiently and has become the best one in the country. The entire country is also saluting the Telangana police for  conducting inter-state operations to stop cyber criminals, he said.

"The Telangana police department stood as a role model for the country in  preventing terrorism, anti-social activities, communal agitations, white-collar crimes, drugs, cyber crimes, adulterated food, gutkha, matka and other anti-social activities in the state",  Revanth Reddy said congratulating Telangana police for instilling people's confidence and created  an environment where it is impossible to get away with committing a crime.

Listing out the initiatives to promote Telangana as a " Drug Free" State in the country, Revanth Reddy said thatthe  ‘Eagle’ (Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement)force has been formed with the aim of completely eradicating the drug menace. He appealed to the police to work hard in achieving the government's resolve to make Telangana as a drug free State in the country. Orders have already been issued delegating full powers to police and  taking stern action against those who are involved in drug trafficking, he said.

In view of increasing challenges in dealing with crime cases,  investigation, traffic control, day patrol, night patrol, security, VIP protection, Revanth Reddy said the government has also taken several welfare measures for the well being of the cops. The state government  has recruited about 16,000  constables and SIs to reduce work burden and improve efficiency. Political interference was completely removed in the discharge of duties by the police, he said.

The Chief Minister emphasised that transparency, accountability, and adherence to ethical values  are the cornerstones of policing. These bring the community closer to people and increase trust in the police department. The police responsibility is to solve people's problems, prevent crimes, and repose trust in the police department. The role of the police is crucial in maintaining peace and security in society, he said.

Maintaining law and order and security are utmost important for the rapidly developing state of Telangana, Revanth Reddy said the influence of social media has increased greatly and hence police should take every step carefully.

Revanth Reddy noted that  'friendly policing' is for law-abiding citizens and not for those who violate the law. While allowing protests to be organised to protect the rights of the people and express their problems in a democratic regime, the police should act very sensitively in this case so as not to cause trouble to the common people, he added.
