Hyderabad police have arrested a habitual offender involved in a series of cheating and impersonation cases registered across Cyberabad, Rachakonda and Hyderabad City commissionerates. The accused, K. Sudheer (43), was apprehended by Kachiguda police of the East Zone on December 22 in connection with Crime No. 432/2025.
Police officials said Sudheer is linked to at least 10 criminal cases, including nine cheating cases and one two-wheeler theft, registered at different police stations under the three commissionerates. He has been booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act.
According to the investigation, the accused targeted RTC conductors by posing as a vigilance officer. While initially staying near the Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station and later in a hostel in Medchal, Sudheer frequently interacted with RTC drivers and conductors and gathered detailed information about vigilance mechanisms through toll-free numbers and online sources. He allegedly recorded videos of conductors sleeping or neglecting duties during long-distance journeys and used the footage to intimidate them.
To strengthen his impersonation, he used WhatsApp display pictures of senior RTC officials and communicated in an official tone, creating fear and extorting money from victims. Acting on technical evidence, police arrested him at 11 am on December 22 and seized a mobile phone and two SIM cards.
Police said the accused has a long criminal record, including earlier insurance fraud cases involving nearly Rs 3 crore. Two non-bailable warrants are pending against him at Meerpet police station. Senior officers commended the Kachiguda police team for the successful arrest.
