In a swift trial, the Fast Track Special Court at Medchal sentenced Shiva Kumar, 45, and his son Samuel, 21, to life imprisonment for the sexual assault of a seven-year-old girl. Both were fined Rs 10,000 each under Section 376(DB) IPC and provisions of the POCSO Act.
The incident occurred on August 10, 2023, when the victim’s parents returned from work to find their daughter crying in pain and bleeding. The child revealed that their neighbours had taken her to their residence and assaulted her. A complaint was lodged at Petbasheerabad Police Station, leading to the arrest of the accused on August 12.
After completion of investigation and trial, Judge K. Venkatesh pronounced the verdict, awarding Rs 5,00,000 compensation to the victim. The judgment highlights the judiciary’s commitment to expeditious justice in cases of child sexual abuse and sends a strong deterrent message against such heinous crimes.
