Five women who underwent cesarean deliveries at the Mother and Child Care Hospital in Banswada, Kamareddy district, developed serious health complications after surgery and were shifted to Nizamabad Government Hospital before being referred to NIMS in Hyderabad for advanced treatment.

According to hospital officials, a total of 10 pregnant women underwent cesarean sections on Friday and Saturday. While five recovered without any complications, the remaining five developed health issues soon after surgery. Doctors found that their platelet counts had dropped significantly and they also showed symptoms of urinary tract infection and kidney-related complications, resulting in their condition becoming critical.

Hospital Superintendent Dr. Vijay Bhaskar said the patients were immediately shifted to the Government General Hospital in Nizamabad for better medical care. Following further examination on Monday, doctors there decided to refer all five women to Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad as their condition required advanced treatment. He is personally monitoring the situation.

The incident has caused concern among the patients' family members, who questioned how five women developed similar complications after undergoing cesarean procedures within a span of two days. They alleged medical negligence and demanded a detailed investigation into the surgeries and post-operative treatment provided at the hospital.

Dr. Vijay Bhaskar confirmed that five patients had developed complications and their platelet counts had fallen after surgery. He said an inquiry has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the complications and whether they were linked to any lapse during surgery, post-operative care, medication, or infection. He added that the patients were referred promptly to ensure they received the best possible treatment without delay.

Officials said the investigation is underway and further action will be taken based on the findings. Meanwhile, the condition of the five women continues to be closely monitored by doctors at NIMS.
