Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna has stressed the need to give top priority to the future of students, enhancement of educational standards, and addressing regional aspirations while framing the new law.

The MP participated in the important Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) meeting held to examine the Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill-2025, a key legislation aimed at overhauling the higher education regulatory framework in India. The meeting took place in New Delhi on Friday under the chairmanship of the JPC.

The Bill, introduced in the Lok Sabha in December 2025, seeks to establish the Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan as a single apex regulatory body for higher education. It proposes to replace the existing University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) with a unified structure aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

During the meeting, officials from various state higher education departments, education experts, and representatives of relevant organisations presented their views and suggestions. Members engaged in detailed discussions on multiple aspects of the Bill, including institutional autonomy, quality standards, accreditation, and improving access to quality higher education.

Speaking on the occasion, Vamsi Krishna  expressed hope that the Bill would help build a more efficient, accessible, and high-quality education system in the country.

The JPC is expected to prepare a comprehensive report after considering inputs from all stakeholders. The Congress MP actively voiced the perspectives and aspirations of Peddapalli Parliamentary constituency and Telangana in the discussions on this crucial higher education reform.
