Adilabad district police on Monday arrested four members of an inter-state cybercrime gang, including a 17-year-old minor from Delhi, for allegedly posing as bank officials and cheating unsuspecting citizens. The accused were identified as Mohammad Irfan, Sahil and Anas from Uttar Pradesh, along with the minor.

According to Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan, the suspects were intercepted during a routine vehicle inspection in Adilabad after they were found moving under suspicious circumstances. A search led to the seizure of nearly 1,500 used mobile phones, along with motherboards and batteries.

During questioning, the accused reportedly confessed to forming a gang to carry out cyber fraud. Police said they would purchase second-hand mobile phones at low prices and extract sensitive data stored in the devices after repairing them. Using the recovered information, the gang allegedly contacted customers of various banks, impersonated bank officials, and collected confidential financial details to siphon off money.

Adilabad DSP L. Jeevan Reddy, I-Town Inspector B. Sunil Kumar, SI Nagnath and other officials were present at the press briefing. Police are investigating further to identify additional victims and possible links to other cybercrime networks.
