A birthday celebration turned tragic early Thursday when a speeding car crashed into a tree near Mirzaguda, killing four college students and leaving one injured. The accident occurred around 1:30 am under Mokila police station limits as the group was returning from a friend’s party.
Preliminary investigations indicate that overspeeding caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The impact was so severe that the car split into two. Four young men, aged between 18 and 20, died on the spot, while a girl student survived and is receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
The deceased include Kargayala Sumith, BBA final-year student at IBS College, Nikhil, also a BBA final-year student, Balmuri Rohith, an engineering student at MGIT, and Devala Surya Teja, BBA second-year student at IBS. The injured student has been identified as Sunkari Nakshatra, a BBA final-year student at IBS.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities have urged young drivers to avoid overspeeding, especially during late-night travel, to prevent such tragic incidents.
