Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said the state government was giving priority to public welfare alongside the development of temples and religious sites. He made the remarks during a visit to the Adbhutha Venkateswara Swamy Temple at Nacharam village in Enkoor mandal of the Wyra Assembly constituency in Khammam district, where he laid the foundation stone for a road leading to the temple. Bhatti Vikramarka said a road project worth Rs 44 crore was being undertaken to facilitate the movement of devotees.

He mentioned that the funds had been sanctioned for the project following the persistent efforts of local MLA Ramdas Naik. The Deputy Chief Minister said that in view of the upcoming Godavari Pushkaralu, the state was spending Rs 2,000 crore on the development of riverbank areas and temples along the Godavari River. He also announced that Rs 276 crore had been allocated for the development of the Bhadrachalam temple and Rs 354 crore for the Sri Gnana Saraswati Devi Temple at Basara.

Welfare schemes to support poor families

Bhatti Vikramarka said meeting the essential needs of families was one of the government's primary responsibilities. He stated that fine rice was being distributed to 1.06 crore families across the state and under the Rajiv Aarogyasri health scheme, eligible families were being provided with free medical treatment worth up to Rs 10 lakh per family. He said Rythu Bharosa assistance was being provided to 71 lakh farmers, while 53 lakh families were receiving free electricity for consumption of up to 200 units. Other initiatives included interest-free loans for women, social security pensions for eligible beneficiaries, and free bus travel facilities, he mentioned.

The state government was implementing a breakfast scheme for 27 lakh students studying in government schools, Bhatti Vikramarka said. The government was also constructing Young India Integrated Residential Schools in every Assembly constituency, with an estimated investment of around Rs 200 crore per school. The Deputy Chief Minister said a school had also been sanctioned for the Wyra constituency.

Rs 90,000 Crore investment planned for road development

The Deputy Chief Minister said road development projects worth approximately Rs 90,000 crore were being undertaken across Telangana. He added that the government was taking steps to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply despite power demand exceeding 20,000 megawatts. Referring to the state's financial position, Bhatti Vikramarka said Telangana had accumulated a debt burden of approximately Rs 8.20 lakh crore over the previous decade. Despite these financial commitments, the government was continuing its welfare programs alongside infrastructure and development projects, he added.

Bhatti Vikramarka warned that the El Niño phenomenon could result in reduced rainfall and create the risk of water shortages. He urged people to use every drop of water carefully, keeping in mind the needs of drinking water, livestock and birds. Officials had been instructed to organize water conservation awareness programs at the village level, he said. Scientists and agricultural experts should help explain the prevailing situation to the public and offer appropriate guidance, he added.
