In an enforcement drive against private hostels violating regulations, the GHMC Commissioner has ordered a special task force to conduct surprise inspections across the city. On Saturday, teams carried out extensive checks in key zones including LB Nagar, Kukatpally, and Serilingampally, inspecting 60 hostels in total.

During the operation, show cause notices were issued to 38 hostel managements for non-compliance with rules. Additionally, kitchens of 7 hostels were sealed, and fines totaling Rs. 2,46,000 were imposed. The action follows multiple public complaints against hostel authorities running their facilities without adhering to prescribed guidelines.

This drive is a continuation of efforts that began on Friday, when the task force inspected 58 hostels, served notices to 30, seized 8 kitchens, and levied fines amounting to Rs. 2.45 lakh. The enforcement is being carried out under the GHMC Act, 1955, with officials warning hostel operators to strictly follow regulations or face further penalties. The task force comprises officials from various departments, working under the direction of the GHMC Commissioner, to ensure the safety and hygiene standards of hostels in Hyderabad.
