Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday issued a strong warning against crimes targeting women and the misuse of social media to spread misinformation or malign reputations. Speaking in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, he said the NDA government is committed to restoring law and order and rebuilding public trust.
Naidu criticized the previous regime for the deterioration of policing and said reforms are now underway across departments. “I was the first victim of their political vendetta—arrested, jailed, and even surveilled with drones. But I believe in justice, not revenge,” he said.
Citing a drop in crime statistics, Naidu reported that crimes against women declined by 4.84%, dowry deaths by 43%, murders of women by 15%, and female suicides by 59% over the past year. Cybercrimes against women fell 17%, and 343 accused have been jailed.
The Chief Minister expressed concern over online abuse, alleging that paid groups are running fake campaigns and engaging in character assassination. He warned that those spreading defamatory content or threatening women online would face strict legal action.
He also referred to the Vivekananda Reddy murder case, accusing Circle Inspector Sankaraiah of colluding with the accused and criticized him for daring to serve a notice to the Chief Minister himself—calling it evidence of systemic collapse under the previous government. Recalling the Alipiri Naxal blast, Naidu said he had been given a second chance at life to serve the people and noted with pride that he had now presented pattu vastram to Lord Venkateswara 14 times.
Re-elected for a fourth term, Naidu emphasized his commitment to ending faction politics in Rayalaseema, while urging restraint. “While anger at past injustices may be justified, we must not retaliate in kind,” he said, referencing earlier attacks on TDP offices. He also praised the Eagle Task Force for successfully curbing ganja smuggling, declaring Andhra Pradesh a "ganja cultivation-free state."
