Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy assured that the people affected by the Musi Rejuvenation Project would be rehabilitated and to allay all apprehensions, he would be making a PowerPoint presentation on Musi Rejuvenation Project on March 13. He added that the opposition is politicising the issue. Comparing the other riverfront projects such as Sabarmati Riverfront and Yamuna Riverfront he said that people were not provided with facilities.
"In Ahmedabad, 10,000 families were displaced and Sabarmati Riverfront was built. They did not provide proper facilities for them. Yamuna Riverfront was built in Delhi and Ganga Riverfront in UP, the Chief Minister pointed out and wondered why the opposition does not want the Musi project. What is wrong in constructing Gandhi Knowledge Centre with Rs 200 crore," he asked.
Revanth Reddy assured the government will provide proper relief and rehabilitation to the displaced. In 2004 an apartment was built in the buffer zone of 9 meters in the Isa River. After making a decision of creating a 50-meter buffer for the rivers, a ban was imposed on constructions. Residents are invited for talks to address the removal of structures in view of the 50 per cent buffer zone covered. The government assured to allot 7 acres of land and also deposit money required to build an apartment in the land. Unfortunately, the issue was politicised and the leaders showed sympathy, he said.
The Chief Minister appealed to people to stop getting carried away by opposition politics. All the buildings in the 50-meter buffer zone are zero value and hence the government is ready to address the grievances of people. He charged that the opposition was obstructing residents of the buffer zone from holding talks with the government on rehabilitation. Revanth Reddy sought everyone's cooperation to save the city from encroachments and transform it into an international level and become the backbone of the country's economic system.
2,500 RTC diesel buses moved to districts
The Chief Minister referred to increasing air pollution in New Delhi. Mumbai was also facing numerous problems and Chennai is struggling from flooding. He warned that Hyderabad was in the Orange zone and the threat of the red category is looming. “We need to develop the city with international standards. Chandrababu and YS Rajasekhar Reddy have transformed Hyderabad. We are trying to make Hyderabad compete with South Korea, New York, Tokyo. Efforts were on to shift the industries outside the ORR," he said.
The Chief Minister said that measures were taken to reduce air pollution in Hyderabad by reducing the plying of diesel buses. "A total of 2,500 RTC diesel buses in Hyderabad will be moved to the districts by December and replace them with EV buses," he said.
