Gram, Ward Sabhas to be held from June 4 in TG

Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao on Tuesday held a video conference with district collectors to review arrangements for the 99-Day Praja Palana Pragathi Pranalika and Environment Week awareness programmes. He said that, as directed by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Gram Sabhas and Ward Sabhas would be conducted on June 4, 6, 8 and 10 across villages and urban wards. These meetings should be used to spread awareness on governance, development and public participation, he said.

The Chief Secretary instructed officials to create awareness on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls being undertaken by the Election Commission of India and ensure public participation in voter list updating.

Collectors were also asked to educate people on crop diversification, monsoon preparedness, sanitation, prevention of water stagnation, plantation drives and Solid Waste Management Rules. He stressed convergence of departmental efforts for effective outreach.

Ramakrishna Rao directed collectors to involve public representatives, Self-Help Group members, community leaders and other stakeholders to ensure awareness programmes reach every household.

Director General of Police C.V. Anand, who participated in the meeting, emphasised coordination between the Police and other departments for smooth implementation of government programmes and outreach activities.
