The NH-44 corridor is one of the busiest and caters to 1.5 lakh commuters every day. Despite ongoing construction activity near Bowenpally, the Suchitra–Kompally flyover section remains largely stalled for over a year, deepening commuter frustration and raising questions over uneven project execution. Half-finished pillars, never-ending diversions endless and dug-up roads result in traffic snalrls and congestion. Commuters report that peak-hour travel has become unpredictable, with long queues forming at key bottlenecks including Suchitra Junction, Dairy Farm Road, Kompally and Jeedimetla.

Similarly, the Chanchalguda–Santoshnagar flyover project, a 2.5 km stretch, is also facing prolonged delays. Erection of heavy beams over live traffic has added to congestion and safety concerns, particularly during peak traffic hours when movement slows to a crawl. Police data referenced in circulation highlights that seven black spots along the NH-44 flyover corridor recorded 50 accidents and 53 fatalities between 2022 and 2025, with prolonged roadwork conditions cited as a contributing factor.

On social media platform X, commuters continue to express frustration. One user wrote that the situation on the Chanchalguda–Santoshnagar stretch “has been years in the making,” while another user on Instagram compared progress across the corridor saying Bowenpally work is moving but Kompally remains, said “Bowenpally stretch is moving, but Kompally side feels completely stuck. Same project, different speeds?”

Safety concerns are also frequently raised, with users reporting poor lighting, sudden diversions, and confusing lane shifts near construction zones. HMDA Chief Engineer B. Ravinder attributes the delay to a combination of contractor underperformance, financial constraints and construction challenges. He notes that the original December 2024 deadline for the four-flyover NH-44 package has been pushed to April 2026, with phased openings expected. “Two structures are expected to open earlier and the remaining works following later, making sure that it get completed”, he added, explaining that there is no necessity for traffic congestion concern.
