Dr. Lalitha Anand: Sacrifice, comeback and excellence
Lalitha Anand stood as the perfect partner to her ambitious husband. She paused her own higher studies to support her husband’s demanding career and to raise their children. But her hunger for knowledge never faded. At the age of 40, she returned to academics with determination and successfully completed her PhD in Mathematical Statistics and Corporate Finance from the prestigious IIT Madras. She later joined the Indian School of Business (ISB) as a Research Associate in Mathematics and Statistics and rose to the position of Assistant Professor.
From a young age, Lalitha had a deep love for classical dance, particularly traditional Indian forms. After turning 50, she revived her passion and at the age of 57, performed her “Bharatanatyam Arangetram “ (debut solo performance). The couple has two sons. Their elder son, Chama Milind, is a professional cricketer who has represented the Hyderabad cricket team, the India Under-19 team, and also played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL.
Even today, CV Anand maintains excellent fitness by regularly playing cricket and tennis. Dr. Lalitha Anand, who successfully reversed her diabetes, now conducts awareness programs on fitness and healthy living. This Hyderabad couple has proved that with commitment and determination, age and circumstances are no barriers to achievement. While CV Anand has made his mark in police service, Dr. Lalitha Anand has excelled in academia and the arts. Together, they have also become a source of inspiration for their children apart from several others.
