HMWSSB on Thursday conducted a detailed program to launch a comprehensive water audit aimed at reducing transmission losses, improving monitoring, and converting unaccounted water into revenue. The program focused on tracking and auditing water supply in real-time—from reservoirs to end-users—ensuring equitable distribution and maintaining water quality across all areas.

As part of the program, Pune-based Alliance Solutions gave a PowerPoint presentation highlighting that a portion of water supplied by utilities often goes unaccounted for as non-revenue water. The company presented a DPR and demonstrated software designed to identify these losses, prevent wastage, and convert the saved water into revenue. The software also enables real-time water auditing and monitoring throughout the system.

MD Ashok Reddy emphasized the importance of installing flow meters at reservoirs and ensuring meter readings match at end-user points. This process will help detect transmission losses and take corrective measures to stop wastage. He also instructed officials to study the feasibility of integrating this technology with the existing SCADA system, enabling comprehensive monitoring of raw water pumping stations, water treatment plants, transmission lines, distribution networks, and reservoirs.

The meeting was attended by ED Mayank Mittal, Transmission Director Sudarshan, CGMs Brijesh and Kiran Kumar, GMs, and other senior officials. The program underlines HMWSSB’s commitment to reducing losses, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring a reliable and high-quality water supply.
