HMWSSB Managing Director Ashok Reddy inspected the ongoing works of the Zone-3 Sewer Network Project, aimed at modernizing the underground drainage system in the city’s core areas. Accompanied by Karwan MLA Kausar Mohiuddin, the MD visited key locations on Tuesday, including the HMWS&SB office in Shaikpet, and reviewed progress in problematic zones.

At Tolichowki flyover, officials discussed strategies to carry out deep tunneling works — at depths of 8 to 11 meters — without disrupting daily traffic, especially during peak hours. The MD stressed the need to coordinate with GHMC, Transco, and other departments to ensure timely and safe completion of works before the monsoon. He instructed the use of barricades and safety gear to maintain high safety standards, and to complete road restoration immediately after pipeline laying.

In the Seven Tombs area, the MD directed officials to submit proposals ensuring that underground works do not affect nearby residential structures. He also reviewed the ongoing pipeline expansion works in MD Lines and surrounding areas.

Surprised by the non-utilization of 10 MLD capacity reservoirs built a decade ago in Shaikpet, Ashok Reddy instructed officials to bring them into use immediately and identify areas that can benefit from improved water supply. He later inspected the water treatment plant in the same premises.

The Rs 297 crore project spans 135 km across four assembly constituencies, covering areas like Tolichowki, Golconda, Mehdipatnam, and Nampally. So far, 133 km of pipeline works are complete. The project promises 100% sewage collection and a cleaner, healthier environment.
