Cabinet meetings must be held at the Secretariat and not in Delhi if Telangana’s self-respect is to be upheld, said K. Kavitha, president of Telangana Jagruthi, launching a sharp attack on the Congress government.
Addressing a press meet at Banjara Hills on Thursday, she accused the government of betraying RTC workers and failing to honour its promise of merging the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation with the government. She demanded that the upcoming Budget allocate dedicated funds for implementing the already-passed RTC merger bill and questioned the delay.
Targeting Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Kavitha alleged that pre-election assurances to RTC workers had been abandoned. She claimed employees were being forced to work 16–18 hours a day and condemned the dismissal of nearly 1,000 staff.
She also questioned the free bus scheme without fleet expansion, sought a white paper on Mahalakshmi funds, and alleged attempts to privatise RTC through outsourcing. Kavitha announced support for the RTC workers’ “Chalo Secretariat” protest on the 24th.
