Telangana is set to host one of the most spectacular Bathukamma festivities this year, with a Guinness World Record attempt scheduled at Saroor Nagar Stadium on September 29. Ministers Jupally Krishna Rao, Konda Surekha, and Seethakka directed officials to ensure fool-proof arrangements for the event, which will witness 10,000 women participating in Bathukamma celebrations alongside a 63-foot floral installation symbolizing the festival.

At a high-level review meeting held at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Secretariat, the ministers emphasized the need for meticulous planning to make the Guinness entry a reality. They instructed officials to coordinate with SERP for transporting self-help group women, while collectors of Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, and Yadadri districts were told to facilitate logistics for remaining participants.

Outlining the schedule of festivities, the ministers said that the city will witness a Bathukamma Carnival on Tank Bund on September 27, followed by bike and cycle rallies on September 28. The Guinness World Record celebrations will take place on September 29 at Saroor Nagar Stadium, culminating with Saddula Bathukamma on September 30 at Tank Bund.

To add grandeur, officials were asked to decorate Tank Bund, PV Marg, Secretariat, Saroor Nagar Stadium, historic landmarks, and major junctions with artistic structures and illuminated displays. Arrangements for sanitation, road repairs, lighting, women’s amenities, and accident-prevention measures at immersion points are to be given top priority.

The ministers called for large-scale participation of women self-help group members, government employees, IT professionals, and Hyderabad residents to make the celebrations a resounding success. They also instructed departments of Tourism, Culture, GHMC, HMDA, Police, and Transco to work in close coordination.

The festivities will also showcase Telangana’s cultural richness, with folk and tribal artists leading colorful processions of women carrying Bathukammas for immersion at Tank Bund. The ministers asserted that the celebrations should reflect the cultural pride of Telangana while projecting Bathukamma as a global festival.
