The Fast Track Special Court at L.B. Nagar, Ranga Reddy District, convicted a 25-year-old labourer, Saadangi Venkatesh, in a POCSO case registered at Pahadishareef Police Station. He was sentenced to 20 years rigorous imprisonment, fined Rs 20,000, and ordered to pay Rs 1,00,000 as victim compensation.
The case began on February 10, 2020, when a complaint was lodged after a 17-year-old girl went missing from Devender Nagar Colony, Raviryala Village. Family members suspected their neighbour, leading police to register a missing case. During investigation, the girl was traced, and it was revealed that the accused had kidnapped and repeatedly assaulted her.
The charges were altered to Sections 366, 376(2)(i)(n) IPC and Section 5(l) r/w 6 of the POCSO Act. After examining oral, documentary, and scientific evidence, the court found him guilty. The conviction was achieved through coordinated efforts of police officers, prosecutors, and court staff.
