The Bhupalpally Municipality has launched a stray dog sterilization program under the Animal Birth Control (ABC) initiative to curb the growing stray dog population and enhance public safety, Municipal Commissioner Uday Kumar said. According to the Commissioner, the primary objective of the program is to control the increase in the number of stray dogs while preventing the spread of rabies and other zoonotic diseases.

As part of the initiative, stray dogs from various wards across the town are being captured and transported to the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Centre, where they undergo sterilization surgeries under the supervision of qualified veterinary doctors. After completing the surgical procedures and necessary post-operative care, the dogs will be released back into the same localities from where they were captured, in accordance with the prescribed Animal Birth Control protocol, Uday Kumar said.

The Municipal Commissioner appealed to residents to cooperate with municipal staff during the capture of stray dogs to ensure the smooth implementation of the program. He also urged citizens facing issues related to stray dogs or wishing to provide information about their presence in specific areas to contact the Municipal Office so that appropriate action can be taken.
