The Hyderabad City Police Commissionerate on Wednesday held a grand farewell for 21 police officers retiring from service. The group includes 1 Inspector, 7 Sub-Inspectors, 10 Assistant Sub-Inspectors, 1 Head Constable, and 2 Logistics Staff. Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, personally congratulated the retiring officers.
Speaking at the event, Sajjanar said, “You served diligently during the unified Andhra Pradesh period, the Telangana movement, the COVID-19 challenges, and other difficult situations. It is because of your dedication that our state remains peaceful. I feel proud of your service.” He noted that their long careers, spanning 35–44 years, have left an indelible mark, and while it is difficult to see such experienced officers retire, every career must eventually conclude.
He advised the retirees to enjoy their “second innings,” spend quality time with family, and prioritize their health. “Thank your families for supporting you throughout your service. Stay active at home, engage in daily activities, and maintain your health. Your well-being depends on it,” he added.
Commissioner Sajjanar also cautioned officers to invest retirement funds through proper channels like banks and post offices, avoiding schemes promising unrealistic returns, and warned them about cybercrime targeting retirees. He wished them long life and happiness with their families and lauded their invaluable contributions to the police department.
The farewell event was attended by K. Venkata Lakshmi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Admin), S. Srinivasulu, CEO, and office bearers of the Police Officers’ Association, including Secretary Asif Khan.
