Hyderabad Police book 475 drunk driving cases

Hyderabad Traffic Police booked 475 motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol during a special two-day enforcement drive conducted on May 29 and 30 as part of efforts to improve road safety across the city.

According to police, the majority of offenders were two-wheeler riders, accounting for 397 cases. Another 36 cases involved three-wheelers, while 42 cases were registered against drivers of four-wheelers and other vehicles. The breath analyser tests showed varying levels of alcohol consumption among the offenders. Police recorded 90 cases with Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) levels between 30 and 50, 202 cases between 51 and 100, 96 cases between 101 and 150, 43 cases between 151 and 200, 24 cases between 201 and 250, 11 cases between 251 and 300, and nine cases with BAC levels exceeding 300. Traffic police reiterated that there will be zero tolerance towards drunk driving violations and said such special enforcement drives will continue. Motorists have been urged to cooperate and follow traffic rules.
