With the Sankranti festival around the corner, Hyderabad Police have urged citizens to take extra precautions to safeguard their homes and valuables while travelling to their native places. V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, highlighted that many families leave their houses locked for several days during the festive season, making them vulnerable to theft.

The police commissioner has advised residents to inform their nearest police station or beat officer before leaving, allowing personnel to keep a regular watch as part of routine patrols. He stressed that such preventive measures are crucial to ensuring safety and maintaining law and order during festive times.

Sajjanar also cautioned citizens against leaving cash, gold, or other valuables at home while travelling. He suggested that these be secured in bank lockers or other safe arrangements. “Simple precautions can go a long way in preventing thefts and ensuring that families can celebrate the festival with peace of mind,” he said. The commissioner emphasized that modern policing focuses not only on responding to crimes but also on preventing them. Hyderabad Police remain committed to the safety of homes and neighborhoods, and public cooperation is vital in this effort.

Residents are reminded to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activity, and dial 100 in case of emergencies. By taking these preventive steps, citizens can enjoy the Sankranti festival safely and securely, confident that their homes are under police watch.
