For meat lovers and ordinary consumers alike, the unexpectedly high chicken prices are proving to be a shock. Due to the effects of the winter season and increased demand, the price of skinless chicken in the Hyderabad market has reached a staggering Rs. 310 per kg. The Traders say this is the highest price recorded in this season. It is understood that the prices have increased so dramatically because, despite the New Year celebrations being over and the Sankranthi festival approaching, the demand has not decreased and the production costs have also increased.
Although prices have reached their peak in Hyderabad, there is not much change in prices in other areas compared to the last week. The prices of the skinless chicken in various cities are as follows: Hyderabad: Rs. 280 - Rs. 310 , Vijayawada: Rs. 290 , Guntur/Warangal: Rs. 300 , Visakhapatnam: Rs. 290 , Khammam: Rs. 270 - Rs. 290 and Kamareddy: Rs. 280. Along with the chicken, the price of eggs remains high at Rs. 8. The Consumers are expressing concern that the prices may increase further in the coming days due to the festival season. Meanwhile, in several markets in Hyderabad, mutton is available for only Rs. 800-900 per kg. As a result, the meat lovers are flocking to these markets early in the morning.
