Telangana gets Rs 175 cr incentive for AgriStack fertiliser system

Telangana has achieved another key milestone in the implementation of the AgriStack-based digital agriculture system, with the Union government approving Rs 175 crore as an incentive for the State after it completed the first milestone in implementing the AgriStack-based fertiliser distribution system.

The initiative is aimed at ensuring more transparent and efficient distribution of fertilisers and improving service delivery to farmers.

In a letter issued by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare on August 31, 2026, the Centre said it had examined the proposal submitted by the Telangana government and found that the State had fulfilled the prescribed criteria and guidelines.

Telangana was accordingly declared eligible for the Rs 175 crore incentive under SASCI 2026-27.

The incentive will be provided under Part-VII — Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for Agriculture–AgriStack of the Union government’s Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme.

A total of Rs 13,000 crore has been allocated under this component, of which Rs 10,000 crore has been earmarked for AgriStack-enabled priority use cases. Of this, Rs 5,000 crore has been specifically allocated for the AgriStack-based fertiliser distribution system.

The Centre had earlier sanctioned Rs 424 crore in incentives to Telangana for successfully completing the Farmer Registry. With the State now completing the first milestone in the AgriStack-based fertiliser distribution system, it will receive an additional Rs 175 crore incentive.

In a statement on Monday, Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said AgriStack would digitally integrate farmers’ details, landholdings, crops, fertiliser distribution and other related information, helping ensure that government schemes and benefits reach genuine farmers in a faster and more transparent manner.

He said the system would also facilitate more efficient monitoring and greater transparency in fertiliser distribution. The Minister said the successive incentives extended by the Centre were an indication of the progress being made by Telangana in its efforts to emerge as a national leader in digital agriculture.
