In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Commissioner’s Task Force, South-East Zone, in coordination with IS Sadan police, apprehended interstate drug peddlers transporting ganja from Nagpur, Maharashtra, to Hyderabad. Officers seized 11 kilograms of ganja, two mobile phones, and cash amounting to Rs. 3,000, with the total contraband valued at approximately Rs. 5,50,000.
The arrested individuals include Syed Firdous, 31, an auto driver and known criminal from Qalender Nagar, Santosh Nagar, Hyderabad, and his stepfather Mohammad Khadar, 46, a cook from Islam Pura, Echoda Mandal, Adilabad. Investigations revealed that Firdous, addicted to vices and seeking to fund his lifestyle, orchestrated the purchase of ganja. Khadar, along with his son BJCL, procured 13 kilograms of ganja from Mehraj in Nagpur and returned to Hyderabad, also bringing nine stolen mobile phones. The contraband was handed over to Firdous for distribution to local customers.
On January 24, Firdous arranged delivery of two kilograms of ganja to sub-peddlers in Madannapet and Jalpally. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted Firdous and Khadar near Redaan Hotel while conducting a transaction. Other accused, including Mehraj, Sajju, Yousuf, and BJCL, remain at large.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Inspector S. Saida Babu, with SI M. Madhu, K. Rama Rao, K. Swamy, and PC S. Balachander, along with the Commissioner’s Task Force and IS Sadan police staff, ensuring a successful seizure and arrest.
