Hyderabad takes flight as aerospace hub

Telangana's ambition to emerge as a global hub for aerospace and defence received a major boost on Tuesday with the inauguration of the second edition of Aeromart Hyderabad 2026, which has brought together leading aircraft manufacturers, defence companies, suppliers, policymakers and industry experts from across the world.

Organised by BCI Aerospace in partnership with the Government of Telangana, Telangana Rising and the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation, the three-day event aims to strengthen international partnerships, expand supply chains and create new business opportunities in the aerospace, defence and space sectors.

The event has attracted participants from over 25 countries, with more than 500 companies and nearly 2,000 delegates in attendance. More than 8,000 pre-scheduled B2B meetings are expected to take place between original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), Tier-1 suppliers, MSMEs and other stakeholders across the aerospace ecosystem.

Addressing the gathering, Telangana Minister for Irrigation and Civil Aviation N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said the state has emerged as one of India's leading aerospace and defence destinations.

"Looking around this room, I see some of the finest minds, the most advanced technologies and the most ambitious partnerships in global aviation, space and defence. The future of global aerospace collaboration is taking shape right here in Telangana," he said. The minister, a former Indian Air Force fighter pilot, highlighted Hyderabad's growing role in advanced manufacturing and global aerospace supply chains. He also announced plans to develop aviation infrastructure in Warangal, Adilabad and Kothagudem to support the sector's future growth.

G. Satheesh Reddy, Member of the National Security Advisory Board and former Chairman of Defence Research and Development Organisation, said India's aerospace and defence sector is witnessing rapid transformation driven by indigenous manufacturing, innovation and exports. "The world is looking at India. Growth in manufacturing, exports and innovation is creating unprecedented opportunities for industry," he said, adding that Hyderabad has evolved into a strong aerospace and defence ecosystem.The inauguration was also attended by Andreas Schwab, Consuls General Giandomenico Milano and Marc Lamy, BCI Aerospace CEO Stéphane Castet, and Telangana Aerospace & Defence Director Praveen P. A..

Backed by robust infrastructure, premier defence research institutions and a rapidly expanding supplier base, Telangana is steadily strengthening its position as one of India's leading aerospace and defence manufacturing destinations. Aeromart Hyderabad 2026 is expected to further boost investment, collaboration and global partnerships in the sector.
