HYDRAA has once again stepped into action on Friday by demolishing illegal structures in Kondapur. The structures were encroached upon 36 acres of government land in Bhikshapathi Nagar, adjacent to the RTA office. HYDRAA personnel along with the police administration removed the encroachments with the help of JCBs since early morning. The police did not allow anyone to come to the site of the demolition. Barricades were erected at a distance of two kilometres and the locals were stopped.
In the past, the parties alleged to have encroached the land approached the Ranga Reddy Court and the verdict was in their favor. The state government then moved the High Court challenging it. The court ruled in favor of the government. HYDRAA has taken up the removal of encroachments as per the High Court verdict. Temporary sheds have been set up and those doing business have been evacuated.
Officials put up boards declaring the land as government land. They estimated that 12 locals have encroached on 36 acres of land in Survey No. 59 and its value is estimated to be around Rs 3,600 crore. On the other hand, the farmers say that these lands have been in their possession for 60 years.
