The Andhra Pradesh government has successfully concluded its state-wide health outreach programme, Swast Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan, with more than 57.11 lakh women and children availing free medical services over the past 16 days.
Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav, in a statement released on Saturday, said the initiative was part of a national campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month to strengthen women’s health and family well-being. “Healthy women form the foundation of strong families. Inspired by this vision, Andhra Pradesh actively participated in the programme across all 26 districts,” he said.
From September 17 to October 2, as many as 25,192 health camps were held across the state. The camps offered a wide range of services, from routine blood pressure and diabetes checks to cancer screenings and child vaccinations. According to official data, 12.01 lakh women underwent blood pressure tests, 11.42 lakh were screened for diabetes, and 9.7 lakh for haemoglobin levels. Tuberculosis testing was carried out for 2.69 lakh people, while 37,561 underwent sickle cell screening.
The campaign also laid strong emphasis on early detection of cancer. Oral cancer screenings were conducted for 6.36 lakh people, breast cancer for 3.61 lakh, and cervical cancer for 2.43 lakh. In addition, 83,451 children received vaccinations during the programme.
A total of 10,225 people donated blood during the health camps, while health cards under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission were distributed to 1.73 lakh beneficiaries. Super-specialty doctors were deployed to ensure quality healthcare services, the minister added.
