In a major anti-encroachment operation, HYDRAA on Tuesday reclaimed and secured five acres of government land worth nearly Rs 1,000 crore in Khanamet village near Hitec City, one of the most valuable real estate zones in Hyderabad's IT corridor.
Acting on a complaint from the Revenue Department, HYDRAA removed illegal structures, including two temporary sheds, a room and fencing that had allegedly been erected as part of an attempt to encroach upon the land. Following the clearance drive, the agency fenced the entire property and installed boards declaring it as government land.
The land is located in Survey No. 42 of Khanamet village in Serilingampally mandal, along the stretch connecting Metal Charminar and the Hitec Exhibition Centre. Officials said some individuals had been claiming ownership of the property for years and were allegedly preventing others from accessing the site.
According to authorities, encroachers had begun enclosing the five-acre parcel with metal-sheet fencing and had already constructed temporary structures on the land. The Revenue Department identified the alleged encroachment and sought HYDRAA's intervention to protect the property.
Responding to the request, HYDRAA teams conducted a demolition operation on Tuesday, removing all unauthorized constructions and restoring control of the land to the government. Officials then secured the site by erecting fencing around the entire property to prevent future encroachments.
Given its strategic location in Hyderabad's rapidly expanding IT corridor, the land is considered highly valuable. Officials estimate its market value at around Rs 1,000 crore.
The operation is being seen as one of the significant land protection drives undertaken by HYDRAA in recent months, highlighting the agency's continuing efforts to safeguard government properties from illegal occupation and encroachment.
