Incorporate meditation in daily life, says Vice President

Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Sunday underlined the importance of meditation in promoting inner peace, emotional well-being and social harmony, while participating in the World Meditation Day celebrations at Kanha Shanti Vanam in Rangareddy district. Addressing the gathering, the Vice-President said meditation is a universal practice that transcends cultural, geographical and religious boundaries and serves as a pathway to mental clarity, emotional stability and inner transformation.

He noted that World Meditation Day offers an opportunity to recognise the growing relevance of meditation in contemporary life. Recalling India’s role in co-sponsoring the United Nations General Assembly resolution declaring December 21 as World Meditation Day, Radhakrishnan said the move reflects global recognition of meditation as a tool for mental well-being and spiritual growth. He also appreciated the contribution of Heartfulness Meditation guide Daaji in spreading meditation practices worldwide.

Highlighting India’s civilisational heritage, the Vice-President said meditation has long been regarded as an ancient science of the mind and spirit in Bharat, nurtured by sages and seers. Referring to teachings from the Bhagavad Gita and the Tamil spiritual text Thirumantiram, he said mastery over the mind through meditation leads to inner harmony, self-realisation and ethical living.

The Vice-President said true development must go beyond economic growth and include emotional and spiritual well-being, adding that meditation can play a vital role in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.

He said a peaceful, resilient and compassionate society is essential for sustainable national progress. Referring to Mission LiFE, Radhakrishnan said meditation fosters mindfulness, responsibility and harmony with nature, which are key to sustainable living.

He also appreciated Kanha Shanti Vanam for promoting holistic well-being and adopting environmentally responsible practices.The Vice-President urged citizens to incorporate meditation into their daily lives and encouraged families and communities to inspire future generations to adopt practices that promote mental balance and harmony.

Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Minister D. Sridhar Babu, Heartfulness Meditation guide Daaji Kamlesh D. Patel and other dignitaries were present at the event, which was attended by thousands of participants.

Later, the Vice President reached Shamshabad airport and departed for Delhi on a special flight. Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Minister D. Sridhar Babu, additional collector Chandrareddy, additional DGP( law and order) Mahesh Bhagwat, and other officials gave him a grand farewell.
