International classical music and dance symposium from July 25

Prof. Dr. Raja Rao Tripuraneni, founder Chairman of Vipanchi organization said on Wednesday that on the occasion of the organization’s 10th anniversary, it is conducting an ‘Indian Classical Music and Dance Symposium’ for two days from 25th July to promote and preserve Indian classical music and dance at an international level. Speaking in a press conference held at Somajiguda Press Club, he mentioned that former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and Orissa Governor K. Haribabu will inaugurate this conference. 

Dr. Rajarao, along with famous Kuchipudi dance guru Dr. S.P. Bharathi, a member of the Central Sangeet Natak Academy, unveiled the brochure of the conference. Dr. Rajarao, professor of Mahindra University, stated that besides the two Telugu states, music and dance artists from the country and abroad are participating. Carnatic music torch bearer Dr. Nallan Chakrabortula Murthy, renowned Hindustani classical singer Dr Kaushiki Chakraborty, Kuchipudi dancer Prof. Dr. Alekhya Punjala will be felicitated with Vipanchi lifetime achievement awards, he informed.

'Kamasutra' dance drama on first day

On the first day of the Vipanchi International Symposium at 6 pm, Renowned dance guru Dr. Swathi Somnath will present a Kamasutra dance Drama written by Bnim and performed by  her "Tradition" disciple group. There will be dance performances by Katragadda Himanshi, Padmapriya Ashapriya and Bengaluru-based Anupama Bhagwa; folk performance by Padmaja Viswas troupe and Andhra Natyam performance by Malaysian dancer Geeta Govardhanam Hazare and her troupe in the concluding session.
