Telangana Biodiversity Board has celebrated International Day for Biological Diversity 2025 at Bhaskara auditorium in B M Birla Center in Hyderabad on Thursday.

The Chief Guest for the program was Dr. C Suvarna, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (HoFF), Telangana Forest Department.

The International Day for Biological Diversity is commemorating on May 22 every year, to raise the awareness of biodiversity and reduce threats to biodiversity. The celebration theme for this year’s biodiversity day is ‘Harmony with nature and sustainable development.’ This theme emphasizes the importance of the UN's 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as the goals and targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

The program started with a traditional dance, followed by inviting dignitaries to the stage. Kalicharan S Khartade, Secretary, Telangana Biodiversity Board, delivered the welcome address.

Telangana State Biodiversity Board has conducted various state level competitions like Painting, Photography, Short film online Quiz competition for the school children’s and general public.

The dignitaries released the TGBDB Major Achievement brochure in Telugu, and report on the National Youth Biodiversity Conference (NYBC).

During the program, awards and prizes were distributed to the winners. Around 300 people from around Telangana participated in the event.
