Janhvi Kapoor partners with Amaha to raise awareness about alcohol addiction, calling it a mental health condition needing proper support

Actor Janhvi Kapoor has partnered with mental health organisation Amaha to launch ‘Off the Rocks’, an awareness initiative focused on alcohol addiction.

The initiative aims to change how alcohol addiction is viewed in India, highlighting it as a mental health condition rather than a moral failing. Janhvi said social drinking is widely accepted, but awareness about alcohol dependency and its risks remains limited.

Speaking about the initiative, Janhvi said the conversation around alcohol is often either ignored or approached with judgment, which prevents people from seeking help. She added that the campaign aims to encourage understanding, self-awareness and access to professional support.

Amaha, a mental healthcare provider, will support the initiative with clinical expertise and resources. The organisation offers programmes for individuals dealing with alcohol addiction through psychiatric care, therapy and long-term recovery support.

Dr Amit Malik, Founder and CEO of Amaha, said addiction remains one of the most stigmatised mental health conditions and requires clinical care and compassion. He added that the initiative will help connect people with credible information and professional help.

‘Off the Rocks’ will feature expert discussions, personal stories and educational content to improve public understanding and reduce stigma around alcohol addiction.

The initiative is planned as a long-term effort to promote responsible conversations around mental health and recovery support in India.
