A joint inspection was conducted under the guidance of the Cyberabad Municipal Commissioner Srujana and Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) MD Ashok Reddy to ensure proper segregation of sewage and rainwater drainage systems. The initiative involved Cyberabad Municipal Corporation, HMWSSB, and the Irrigation Department, aiming to prevent sewage from entering rainwater drains.

During the inspection on Wednesday, officials visited key locations from Durgam Cheruvu to Ibrahim Cheruvu, including Chitrapuri Colony STP, Khaja Kunta STP, Nanak Ramguda STP, and Neknampur, to review ongoing and proposed works on box drains and trunk main sewer lines. Authorities assessed current sewage flows, rainwater drain conditions, and the feasibility of new trunk main constructions. Special attention was given to areas where sewage currently mixes with stormwater, and a detailed action plan was prepared to prevent such contamination permanently.

The inspection also focused on mapping all existing sewer lines to identify points where sewage enters drains, prioritizing trunk main construction in these areas. Officials emphasized that all sewage must be diverted to treatment plants, fully treated, and only then discharged into the Musi River. Measures were instructed to enhance stormwater drain capacity, modernize networks, install new pipelines, and maintain strict monitoring to prevent untreated sewage from entering waterways.

Officials were also advised to plan for treated water reuse, including establishing treated water storage facilities and tanker filling points for gardening, flushing, landscaping, and construction purposes. The inspection included key officers from HMWSSB, CMC, and the Irrigation Department.
