Metro India News | Hyderabad

All arrangements have been completed for the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election vote counting, scheduled for Thursday, November 14. Addressing the media at the counting centre set up at Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy Indoor Stadium in Yousufguda, District Election Officer and GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan elaborated on the counting procedures and security measures in place.

Karnan said the counting will commence at 8 AM, beginning with the postal ballots, followed by 103 home votes, and then moving on to the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). A total of 194,632 votes were cast in this by-election. The constituency had 58 candidates, making it one of the most contested elections. Although there was talk about a triangular fight between Congress, BRS and BJP, the main battle was between Naveen Yadav (Congress) and Maganti Sunitha (BRS).

To ensure a smooth and speedy process, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has granted special permission to establish 42 counting tables, a significant increase from the usual 14, made possible by additional personnel assigned for this by-election. The counting will be conducted in 10 rounds, and the first round results are expected by 8:45 AM, while the final results are likely to be declared by around 1 PM, Karnan said.

The counting will take place under the close supervision of ECI-appointed General Observers and monitoring teams. A total of 186 staff, including counting supervisors, assistants, and micro-observers, have been deployed. Live updates will be displayed on LED screens at the venue and simultaneously updated through the ECI’s official app. Only candidates, their election agents, and authorized counting staff will be allowed entry into the counting hall.

Joint Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal (IPS) stated that special security measures have been implemented to ensure peaceful counting. All police wings will be on duty, and Section 144 will remain in effect in and around the counting centre to prevent unauthorized gatherings. He warned that strict action will be taken against any violations.
