Telangana Tourism, Culture and Archaeology Minister Jupally Krishna Rao was awarded the Grand Prize for Contribution to World Peace at the International Buddhist Conference on World Peace–2026.

The award, presented by the International Interchange Development Association, recognises his efforts in promoting cultural exchange and preserving Buddhist heritage.

Accepting the honour, Jupally said the recognition reflects the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the state’s commitment to the teachings of Lord Buddha—peace, compassion, and non-violence.

He highlighted Telangana’s rich Buddhist legacy, especially the significance of Nagarjuna Sagar, linked to Acharya Nagarjuna.

The Minister reiterated plans to develop key sites and an integrated Buddhist Tourism Circuit. He also said Buddhavanam will be expanded into a global World Peace Centre.

The conference saw participation from delegates and monks from 22 countries.
